Family Planning and Contraceptive Coverage

McLaren Health Plan members have comprehensive coverage for family planning and contraception needs. The following are covered under your pharmacy benefits without restriction:

• Long acting implantable rods
• Intrauterine devices (IUDs) copper and hormone releasing
• Long acting hormone injections
• Vaginal ring
• Transdermal patch
• Diaphragm
• Cervical cap or shield
• Emergency contraception pills (ex. Plan B)
• Spermicide
• Contraceptive sponge
• Male condom
• Female condom

The following are covered under your medical benefits:

• Male and female sterilization (may require authorization, please contact Customer Service)
• Long acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs)
• Screening for pregnancy intention/reproductive health planning
• Contraceptive counseling
