Interoperability – Resources Regarding Privacy and Security

The Interoperability and Patient Access rule was created to make it easier for members to get their health records. With McLaren Health Plan, you have access to all of your records through McLaren Connect, both online and on your mobile device. The McLaren Connect website has online login as well as links to mobile application versions of McLaren Connect. Information about McLaren Connect can be found here:

https://www.mclarenhealthplan.org/mclaren-health-plan/mclaren-connect

In addition to McLaren Connect, the Interoperability and Patient Access rule provides for you, as a member, to utilize a third-party application of your choosing. McLaren Health Plan has partnered with MiHIN to create the link between your information within McLaren Connect and the third-party app that you choose. Third-party developers can register their application with the MiHIN InterOp Station to make the app available for use by InterOp Station members.

Once you chose a third-party application, the application will direct you to create login credentials.  After being logged in to the third-party application, you will then be able to connect to your information through McLaren Health Plan. McLaren Health Plan has established Single Sign-on (SSO) authentication through the McLaren Connect Member Portal which will allow you to access your data within the MiHIN Interop Station through the third-party application you choose.

It is ultimately your choice to use a third-party application. McLaren Health Plan does not endorse or recommend any third-party application. It is up to you to determine which vendor is appropriate for you. There are numerous third-party application vendors that have an established secure connect with MiHIN, including:

Care Convene - https://careconvene.com/

OneRecord - https://my.onerecord.com/

Guaca - https://guavahealth.com/login

You are not required to use any specific third-party application. However, in choosing one, you can review the Notice of Privacy Practices of any Third-Party Application that you intend to use to answer any questions you may have about the security of your information once it leaves McLaren Health Plan systems. McLaren Health Plan is not responsible for data accessed through any application other than McLaren Connect.

For additional information regarding interoperability and your rights, including filing a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights (OCT) or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), please review documentation in the link below: 'Interoperability FAQs – Resources Regarding Privacy and Security For Members'.
