Large Group Products

McLaren Health Plan (MHP) offers fully-insured plans for employer groups on the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Point-of-Service (POS) and High Deductible platforms. Fully-insured means the company pays monthly premiums to the insurance carrier which are fixed for a year and based on the number of employees enrolled in the plan each month.

MHP large group plans are available for groups with 51 or more active, full-time equivalent employees. We offer a menu of options for employers with the option to offer up to three plans.

  • MHP Point of Service (POS) plans combine the elements of both an HMO and PPO. Each member selects a Primary Care Physician (PCP), however, referrals are not required to see a specialist. Option A Benefits provide the highest level of benefits with the lowest out of pocket cost to the member by using the MHP Commercial Network of providers. Some services will require preauthorization. Option B allows members to seek services out of network with higher cost share and the possibility of balance billing by providers. Some services will require preauthorization. Members can move between Option A and B each time they seek care.

  • MHP HMO plans give members access to a large network of providers through our MHP Commercial Network of providers. Members are required to select a PCP. Referrals are not required to see specialists. However, some services will require preauthorization.

  • MHP HMO High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) utilize the MHP Commercial Network of providers and members are required to select a PCP. Referrals are not required to see specialists; however, some services require preauthorization. These plans are HSA (Health Savings Account) compatible.
  • All MHP large group plans are available with a variety of deductible, coinsurance, out of pocket maximum, prescription drug and copay options.
